Math Reflection

Today in math we had to solve the equation 3/4 divided by 1/8. How I figured out this problem is I did the reciprocal system, an easy way to remind me how to properly do it is CCF ( Copy, Change, Flip). How it works is you keep the first number they same, (copy) then you change the order of math. So, we will change the division to multiplication. Lastly, you flip the number, so instead of 1/8 we will flip it to 8/1. So multiply 3/4 by 8/1 and there is your answer. Which is 6!

Among The Free Book Review

Over the Winter Break I reread one of my favorite books, it's called Among The Free By Margaret Peterson Haddix. It is apart of the Among The Hidden series. I would rate this book and series a five star.

I can't really summaries just this book because it is the last book in the series, and it will be very confusing. So... In the city they live in, they cannot have more then two children because they government believes that the city will over populate and no one can keep up with farming food for them. So, they can only have two kids. But this family has "adopted" (you will figure out what that means in the book) this boy named Luke, but he is a third child. And keep him hidden. He figures there is something wrong with their neighbors. He takes a trip there and finds a pleasant surprise. And that is how this entire series happened of conflict, sadness, happiness, etc.

Some of the main author's craft I really like in this book was how at least in every other page there was a cliff hanger which made me always want to keep on reading. As well as, the emotion she puts in the book really makes you feel it in person, which is what I love in a book.

I would really recommend this book for people who enjoy more of like a not so happy book, feeling the emotion in books, and especially cliff hangers. Enjoy!

Mick Harte Was Here Project

There are moments in life that stand out. Mainly they are memories, others, maybe evens sometimes getting to know yourself through some situations. Probably some of those situations are like from the story Mick Harte Was Here. What happened in this story is there is this young, sweet girl who cares for her family very much, but one day a tragedy happened in her family. Her brother was in a biking accident, and passed away unexpectedly. Phoebe and her family had quite a depressing time. But we learn that Phoebe’s friends and neighbor’s make an impact on Phoebe and her family. Once they came with food and to take care of their family, it was a huge impact on Phoebe because she got to find her self again, who she really was before the tragedy. That was one of the moments in Phoebe’s life that really stands out.
“Maybe things happen for a reason to change somebody else's life” ~ Phoebe’s teacher. I sometimes believe in that quote because a lot of bad things can happen, but sometimes good things can come out of it. Like Phoebe she found her true self, but she is always sad about the incident. But you can tell she has changed.

Tchoukball Reflection

One thing I did good on was having some power so I could shoot well at my aim. Also I did well on sort of having that first pointing to your aim arm going on.
One thing that I could improve on from the video is having more of the my arm just about right behind my head. I could also work on having the throwing arm going into a downward arm.
Some improvement that I noticed is that I had my point out for longer, getting my arm nicely at 90 degrees behind my head. Also one I threw my ball, having a nice downward arm.
I think I did really well in applying myself the sending skills when playing Tchoukball, because I followed the right skill movements, and proper throwing and receiving.

Reflection

Science is great class. You get to learn a lot of new things and experience a lot of new things. Right now we just finished our matter and volume unit, it was a lot of fun that I wish that we could have that unit again soon. Some things to reflect on are...

What I learnt was how to figure out the volume of an irregular object using water displacement. Using a water displacement is very fun and easy. I hope that soon I can figure out the volume of me. I also learnt how to figure out the density of things. density was sort of hard at first, but now it is easy. Density is the amount of stuff there is per cubic volume, and how you get it is you divide mass by volume, so the density unit is g/cm3. I also learnt a lot more things, to many things that I can't say all of them. But these two were the most commonly used and fun for me.

What I still am a bit confused about is probably sometimes describing what density actually is. I know how to get density but sometimes I get confused on how to say what it is. I only sort of remembered how to define density about two weeks ago.

What the most memorable thing to me was water displacement. Why it was most memorable to me because it was really fun and interesting how it works to find the volume of an irregular object. I really hope we can do more water displacement in the class in the future.

The matter unit was a lot of fun, but now I can not wait for our new chemistry unit!

Fraction Comparison Reflection

I now know how to compare fractions using cross products. It is a very simple way of comparing fractions. All you do is cross denominator and nominator on each side and multiply them together. Whichever crossed fraction has the greatest number by denominator of where you switched it is greater

I know what LCD is. It is like the the LCM, just a least common denominator.

When it is better to use another method over another maybe if the fraction also has a whole number with it. Or if is just a really complex number
